What causes the sunroof to tilt up?
Hello all
What causes the rear of the sunroof guide to rotate up during close? I had a well adjusted and working sunroof with no gasket. I pulled it apart, greased everything added the gaskets and reinstalled.
I have also removed and stretched the gasket twice to get it thinner so the roof would close. Before it would get too much side friction in close. I still cannot figure out what causes the rear to lift on close. The guide tab is supposed to be in the lower track and then rotate up into the notch during close?? What does the pin facing in do? How about that flat head with a small pin on the track side?
No matter what I do the rear is always too low. Ive read all the adjustment threads and how tos.
Firstly, on the gasket, the felt side is up. Secondly everything worked fine before I took it apart.
Thank you

The pin on the carrier rides up in the slot to raise the roof on the last couple of inches on closing. If it is not lifting in the last couple of inches, something is assembled or adjusted wrong. I don’t believe the gasket is the problem. A video would be helpful.

I havn`t touched mine in a few years. If I recall the black cross bracket with the four 10mm bolts is at the front of sunroof. If the roof closes all the way, properly centered in opening and the only problem is the back is to low... I would look at the two Phillips head screws on the sides. The rear most set adjust the up/down of the rear of sunroof. Looks like they are adjusted down from the pic above. Loosen the forward screw and then pivot the back up on the rearward screw. tighten all four. Hope that's not as clear as mud.

I've tried the rear screw tight high and low. If I rotate the clip up while holding the sunroof up, it doesn't disengage the notch. I guess I don't understand what causes the rear black guide to rise or lower once closed

I need to check my shoes out.
Something is off. What year is your car?
My shoes are different.
Mine don't have the grooves ours does.
The tab usually with a plastic cap runs in the rail. The pin fits in the groove and pushes the sunroof up.
