Default Console Switch Lighting?

Am I wrong to think that there should be internal lighting in the console switches for my '89 S4, specifically the window, sunroof and rear wiper switches? Mine don't light up and it seems a rare oversight if they are not lighted. If they're supposed to light up, what would be the common issue for the failure of all 4? The rest of the console lights are fine in the AC head, doorlock, etc.

Thanks for the link, Merch. It looks like I'm in for a long wait if I want to see lighted switches in my console

I would suggest you put on your blindfold ,
go sit in the car start the engine and work all the controls ,
with a little practice your muscle memory will reward you with consistent location memory.

Note The 928 was designed for ease of use and little to distract the driver from the main task of driving.

Imagin trying to find a button while doing 150 mph
your fingers will do the seeing Luke
Aircraft pilots have the same task.

the switches are not lit

Yes Stan, I agree. In all the aircraft I flew, each **** was a different shape, expressdly for the purpose of recognizing them by touch after a power or lighting failure. Pity Porsche did not follow this example of wisdom gained after over 70 years of flight to that point. Our cars are faster than some aircraft and we could use the same level of safety

Actually they did,
If you read the 928 book, it mentions how the interior appointments were made.

Porsche did make an effort to design the ***** with big sizes so they would be easy to recognize without looking,
NOTE all of the ***** are of different sizes see the HVAC system controls,
the window switches are easy,
run your hand down the left or right side console till your fingers touch the switch, no need to look or guess.
BUT you have to train your hands to see where they are.
Follow my suggestion in the my first post to get your FORCE online.
I have done this more than a few times while sitting in different cockpits.
