Default 79 pod plugs

I bet you that one could reverse the plugs on the 79 gauges, and that you wouldn't know until there are no revs at all, and the speedometer moves only when you rev the engine. Am I right?
They are all the same, so....

There are three 12-pin plugs on the '79 gauge cluster. Do you mean reverse one of them, or swap two of them? IIRC the plugs are slightly offset so I'd think they'd only fit into the retainer in 1 orientation, but I'm sure they're easily swapped....

I do know that if a PO plugs a bulb control module into the wrong 14 pin connector on an '89 dash harness, that no fewer than 5 connectors on plug 4 to the digidash will be in continuity with the speedometer sender. How the car did not burn to the ground, I do not know.

I don't know if the wiring would reach far enough to plug one into the wrong spot.

Maybe the two to the right could be mixed up, but there's really not much 'stretch' to them.

The first time I took the cluster out, I made sure I tagged everything. After I realized that the plugs on the cluster would be very difficult to mix up, I haven't bothered since.

They are not labeled. If I have enough energy I will have to take the pod out again and swap tonight hoping that is the issue.
