Unhappy Headlights not operational

I have a '93 GTS. The headlights rise when the switch is turned fully on however, neither of the bulbs shine - on low or high beam. All of the fuses on the passenger side floor check-out "OK". Although the bulbs looked good, I replaced them both anyway with the correct 9004 units. Parking lights, fog lights, and running lights all work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rick

BTW Stan, I did not see "Headlight Relay" on the fuse/relay list - which one is-it? Also, what is "deoxit 100" - is it like something else I may have in my garage?

The light relay position is shown on the back of the wooden cover over the central electrics in the footwell. The relay is a bigger one that covers two regular slots so no mistaking it- it is also the most expensive relay in the car so let's hope Stan's tips work for you.

Back on this issue - friend with an 88 had lights go up but no beams - Relay? I thought I had a spare, so I went to check. Have a -02 relay with case obviously previously opened, and a -01 - larger case, incompatible pins. So I check whats in the car and working - a -00 ! WTF? Different pins from both the others. Whats going on here ?

Which is the RIGHT relay? -00 and -01 dont appear in PET at all that I can see. I just know that -00 works in my car! If somebody came up with a removed and lost relay, what would you suggest they try?

The relays changed in 87 because of the motor operation. It doesn't go a full 360 like the early cars do. Only a 189 due to the larger AC condenser.

The correct relay for their year would be a 928-618-107-01. or the previous number with a -04 or -64.

I personally dislike the way the -04 relay functions so try to find a good used -01 relay for their S4.

I have seen -05 and -63 mentioned, but only -02 gets mentioned in PET. up to 87, then -04, with -01 for GB - RHD? Will see if he has -01installed, then I might be able to help.

If your relay chart is missing, for future reference go to 928gt.com Left side of home page has a drop down for relay/fuse chart(s). I can't speak to what relay works best for GTS head light relay re previous discussion on same. It would seem Stan's suggestion to clean the existing relay is a good place to start.

Note that the relay charts at 928gt.com dont necessarily match ROW cars. My 83 Euro fuses match their 82 chart, but not the 83. Important difference is fuel pump on mine is F22, not F13 Friend's car has a -01 headlight relay, which I have a spare for.
