Be Honest: Does this new A$$ make my project look too big?
I started the 928 project yesterday. Rolling into the workplace. I know the 928 looks tiny in a side-by-side comparison to a Panamera. Until you put it next to something from the 1960's.

Wow that is a staggering number of components. I counted 116 pieces in the exhaust system. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...22c8c7fa73.jpg 116 pieces in a 1978 exhaust system. I am afraid to weigh it. |
Nice comparo. The 928 was very wide for its day, kinda normal for modern cars. I heard they planned on making even wider but had issues with train cars or something like that. Love the e type |
wait till you take out the whole interior you will need 3 spare rooms.
the engine taken apart 2 garages. The new carpet kit is 30 pieces |

Nice, original oval rubber hanger. Pretty sure those are a '78 only thing (?)

Indeed, the 928 looks smaller than the modern 911 in certain angles.

Soooooo nice to see real tailpipes....instead of the fake cut outs that so many new cars are showing today.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...8019e8fab6.jpg On the other hand, both of these curvy-cars make the 928 rear look like a big fat refrigerator/freezer... ...and I don't mean that as a compliment. |

Must confess I still love 6cyl E-types.. Drooman with his 68 roadster in 1990:

Damn Droo. You have led a blessed life:cheers:

It's amazing how small the E-types are.
The top of the windshield is at Drooman's beltline in the pic above. The E-type is a bit shorter and narrower than a Miata, although longer, both overall & wheelbase. http://similarcar.com/en/Jaguar-E-Ty...6-115HP-manual Comparing size to a 928 really isn't fair. OTOH, when I first saw the 928 on the road, back in the late 80s, it did look pretty big in its lane. In a lot full of modern cars, mine looks pretty small. Not tiny, but smaller than the 'normal' cars. Certainly a lot lower. |
I had the pleasure of riding in the Jag Saturday. We were entering a freeway at a good clip with a new ford GT by our side being driven by Jerry Maguire. All I could think was “ don’t take Jerry out” the Jag is stunning in person |

Maguire vs. Meguiar and tire side wall adhesion technology

the Jag is stunning in person Jerry Maguire: Football film: "show me the money!" vs. Barry Meguiar -original founder of Mequiar's Wax product and new owner of a sparkling new Ford GT - that I almost under-steered into on a long on ramp sweeper. Thank god for late response on the side wall flexing then adhesion on the Michelin XWX's. A white knuckler for any passenger. |
