Default 87 5 speed out for a drive!!!

Sean's 87 5 speed is finally out of the shop! The AC is working, the ride height is normal, oil changed, most electrical glitches fixed, alignment is back to normal (was track setup before)....so I took her out for a little drive today!

Sounds great since there is no cat's just x pipe plus RMB withe the standard 87 mid mufflers. Power is strong too, cruising the freeway not paying attention, 90mph! So I go out to a country road for good old fashioned Italian tune up! Rips through gears just
like she should! Spins those tiny 225 rear tires far too easy, but it sure is fun!

Still got to chase down a parasitic drag on the battery that kills it super quick & then its just cosmetic stuff to fix. After fixing electrical drag a full repaint is next on the list this spring hopefully if I can get it into the shop at work (I work at a community college with an excellent auto body program, lead instructor
used to restore Ferrari's). Until then living at my house under a cover until I take her out again!

I wonder when the next event for norcal 928 is?

Brian thats great your out driving a 928 again.
For the power drag use your IR gun .
drive the car for 20 mins then park it,
roll the windows down and doors and hatch closed,
look down inside the windows at the rear door edge lamps see if they are off.
if so good .
if not then open the hatch and unplug the hatch pin switch ground, and retest.

If no joy then shoot the CE panel and see what relay temps are,
then wait 10 mins and recheck all of the relays
Any relay thats till warm should be investigated.

I had a blower relay that started killing my battery in my 88 it was pretty easy to find and swap
it helps if the Ce panel cover is removed and the parcel tray is out but leave the lamp monitor connected,
this so you dont have to open the door to check the relays

Great idea Stan I will try that! I know the door switch or hatch switch is a problem as the little red door lights never turn off! There might be an issue with the seats as I can feel them "ticking" a little bit as I drive.
