Default Oops ! Help me I slipped into the Shark Tank !

Hello boys,

I both afraid and glad I did slip into the Shark Tank ! Today I bought a 1986 928 Euro Manual S. I read the sticky post prior to buying...and broke all the rules ! It must be love for the Shark that push me in..Anyway now I'm afraid I will need your help badly...
Project is to bring back the shark to as close as possible as it was when it left the factory..
Its original color is Grand Prix White, and its has the limited slip diff, and S4 brakes and suspension
And yes it's been converted to S4 look..but will soon be back to its regular S2 look
I will post pictures here as the project move on
Wish me luck

First encounter

the early cars look best in white! also like to see the side mouldings removed, but that's an owner choice.
euro S manual is a great pick up. good luck with the project.
if i had more time, i'd get back into a 928 also.

Congrats and welcome to the shark tank, but this conversion back will be harder than it looks. to fit the front S4+ bumper cover meant modifying the front fenders. They would have been cut or replaced. You'll need two new front fenders as well to do the job.

Thanks for the front fender reconversion alert, but it's been already sorted out and a set of S front fenders has been found !

It's too late, and I'm not sure you slipped in to the tank. It looks more like you dove in head first knowing how deep the water is...

This should be fun to watch as you bring this one back from the dead. I personally like the idea of white with no rub strips, it is a great look.

Thanks for the warm welcome ! I'm afraid you're closer to truth with your "Dove in head first" theory than I am with my "slipped in" theory !
I'm confused with the side molding (rub strips ?) : Which car had the side moldings(rub strips) and which had not ? I saw S2s with or without side moldings and S4s with and without also..What's the rule ?
Thanks for your help !

They were an option for most years....but nearly all USA spec cars had them ordered.

Glad to have you join the forum!

The rub strips were super common on U.S. built cars. There is no "rule" regarding them. Some like them for their obvious benefits and others prefer the look of the car without them.

That is your car and you should build it to your taste, not mine or anyone else!

Since the rub strips are not on your build sheet, they may be on the car with adhesive instead of having the holes that come with a factory instillation.

Enjoy!
