Just wondering what your thoughts are on 3D printing the lettering for the 32V valve covers, and could they be glued in place?

Reproducing the font and lettering? No problem (well may need a little help from my scan guy Rob E). As far as gluing it, I suppose epoxy with good temperature properties could work. So are you looking for letters that would sit flush inside the recess be flush with the cover or sit up a little proud of the surrounding surface?

^ Agree. Looks like Garage 9 has lots of options for this.

The Garage9 ones (in solid red) look like the ones I used on my '90 S4's valve covers. They turned the covers (one of which is shown in post #2 above) to what's below. Quite nice, IMHO.

It's all detailed in the thread Powder coating intake/cam covers/etc. best practices (for the zillionth time!).

The covers (as well as all the other powder coated stuff shown in that thread) look pretty much the same today — eight years later — as they did in those photos.

Those do look great Ed. I was trying to do some letters in a different color (blue) for my 89 S4 cam covers, and planned to cut them on a laser table here at work. Unfortunately after Kevin (to the 2nd power) in ATL sent me a file with the correct font, I wasn't able to load it into the computer as it violated our cyber security policy. I'd still love a set exactly like those, but in a bright blue.
