Default Padding under rear seats

Has anyone ever replaced the padding (not the foam) under the rear seats? I would like to renew mine but looks like the leather and other things are all glued in together.
Thanks

I have same issue , the padding is shot but hides are good, I plan on taking seats to a auto uphosterer .........

the reason for this expense (my parents did upholstery to put us kids through college) is when you see a job done right it is very gratifying........and yes I did not pick up enough technique and have no tools etc so off to the upholtserers we go some time this winter.....price is a lot less than total hide replacement.....!!!!

You can steam the foam cushions to plump them up with a garment steamer, basically inflating them with the steam like a balloon. I would take off the covers for this, noting the clever upholstery scheme carefully as you disassemble (take many pics). Let the foam dry thoroughly after steaming. When you put the cover back on you use a layer of 1" fiberfill over the cushion to fill out the cover. As you noted during disassembly, you will need an outward clinch stapler to secure the covers to the foam, e.g. this one from
Amazon Amazon
.

Or take em to a pro as Andy suggested above. Probably pretty cheap.

Thanks all but I am refering to the pad under the seats not in the seats. Take the seats out and there is like 1" of foam over the metal.

Aha! Sorry! You want to replace this foam? Post a pic - that sounds very thick. My '91 has a different arrangement but the layer is only about 3/8" thick.

Best practice for insulation is just to get it out of there using a ripping, scraping, and cursing method and glue new material. If it's really in there, chip it off by freezing with dry ice in an alcohol solution, or liquid nitrogen. See YouTube for the latter method - amazing, fun, and a little dangerous.

I replaced the crappy old foam under the right rear with a lower layer 1/4" of closed cell neoprene foam covered by 1/8" mass loaded vinyl, using a cardboard tracing of the area as a template. You can buy this as a single laminated sheet. 3M 90 spray glue will make it permanent, but I let mine float unglued. Worked great and I intend to do the entire interior floor pan soon. No concours judge will look under there.

Thanks! Thats what I was wondering, if there was a full kit or it was just arrangement.
