Leaking rear shock?
Good morning gentlemen, hope everybody's having a good weekend. Very belated happy holidays from us in SoCal to the list.
My 1984 with the S4 engine swap car is close to being put into use with the pending change and smog testing here in California, and I noticed something in weeping from the driver side rear suspension this morning.
It is some sort of fluid obviously, feels more like oil then brake fluid. It's in the wrong place for it to be brake fluid because it's running down the shock, and I noticed that these threads on the shock are damp. that sure looks like a feeling shock to me, but I wanted to see if I can get some confirmation on that likely being the case from you guys.
Assuming it is a leaking in shock, is there much to do other than just replace it?
Thanks!

Drifting
I would consider replacing both rear shocks, and eyeballing the fronts for good measure.

usually the shocks get damaged from overloading the car and hitting big bumps at speed,
Note if original then you can expect the shock bumpers falling apart.
The othe this is the car being shipped where the suspension gets cranked down then the car on the trailer hits a bump,
and then the car bottoms out on the shipping trailer this damages the shock
