Default Air cleaner box alignment

During one of my expeditions into this 1983 engine bay, I took the air cleaner off and found the AFM flopped completely off. After reattaching the AFM and readjusting it multiple times, I still can't get it where the air box will bolt onto both the AFM and the two rubber mounts to the side. It's as if there needs to be a lot more space between the AFM and air box. Any thoughts?

Also, how do I make a "signature" for my posts on this forum? I noticed a bunch of users have a list of cars or whatnot below all their posts.

You need to be a paid member to make a signature. A subscription is cheap enough.

Make sure that the AFM is fully seated in the o-ring inside of the lower part of the intake.

its also possible that the lower airguide has broken off the 3 rubber standoffs, and it thus out of position.

To get a signature ,
go to the top of the page under user CP, click it.
Then scroll down to edit signature,
add your details .

As previously noted you may have to be a paid member to use this feature

Also make sure the air box mounts (one on each side, at intake manifold) aren’t bent or deformed...I seem to find a lot of these out of shape and making for a loose fit for the air flow meter.

Alright, I finally have a picture for y'all

The AFM is completely seated
I'm not sure what Mrmerlin means by three rubber standoffs, but I think those rubber mounts may be deformed?

EDIT: I saw that gasket down there, I did put it back when I reinstalled the air cleaner box

I assure you, there is a picture there :? it did take a few seconds to show up on my screen, but it does show up for me. I have posted pictures in some other threads and they show up just fine.
