Rebuild Clutch Master Cylinder in the car

I’m sorry I did not take one when I was dealing with it. I cut off about 3/4 of the smaller diameter part of the rod that goes toward the front of the car.
the issue is that piece makes the overall piston length too long, so it bottoms out on the cylinder housing before the piston can push enough fluid out into the line to the slave.
there are pics of the old and new pistons in a thread on RL but I don’t have it bookmarked any longer.

So I got down and under there to have a look at the exposed end of the master, under peddles.... The master looks good, clean, no weaping or brake fluid around the top and exposed part of the the master inside of the car. Thanks for the linkage component pictures! Although I was not able to see the condition of the white poly/plastic bushing, the clip and the other item in the photo you supplied (the ringed catch) also looked new-ER than surrounding parts. All parts involved are or appear to be noticeably new looking. This makes me happy. The slave also, compared to surrounding parts, looks new-er...freshly replaced, a crispy black finish. Like both had been serviced or replaced recently. Again, happy.
Still, the creeky, funny feeling in the peddle. Again, I can't hear anything, it's just 3 out of 10 depressions let's say, maybe less, it is less than a sliding smooth travel of the clutch peddle. It's hard to explain. Wish I could better. Bumpy might be a word I could use. I don't want to exaggerate the sensation - but there is something going on.
What does it feel like when the clutch on these machines is incompletely or improperly bled - air in the system? I bought a small oil can the other day and was going to get under the car, crack the bleeder at the slave (remove fluid from the reservoir) and pump a bunch of new brake fluid into and thru the system... Air in the line???
A funky clutch can be unsettling...thats for sure.
