Default 78' Manual Trans problems

Hi everyone, Im a newbie in the 928's. I know its been talked about, but i cant find a post here. Im having problmes with my clutch. Installed CMC and new slave cyl. Power bled system, removed piston to bleed air. Have great pedal, great slave cyl travel. Couldnt get into first or reverse gears. I was told to adj the H or T adjusters. So i adj to 1.0 clearance. Was so much better. Now after 100 miles its back to the same old thing, cant get into geat while runnng. Car has 91k on it, all looks good, adjusters are not loose by any means. what is the gerneral setting for this. I was looking at manual and figured 1 was good. the orginal setting, they were way off, big gap. Any help would be appriecated.

Pretty sure that the replacement clutch master lacks the necessary throw to properly disengage. Much has been written about modifying the internals to make it work correctly.

James, the internal parts from the new match the old parts, the travel is great. Do you have any experience in the adjustment of the H or T adjusters?

Post a picture of the piston when you can. No guarantee that the original one wasn't an incorrect replacement at some point. Seen that one before.

So, it worked great for 100 miles, and then stopped working? Did you try bleeding and burping again at that point?

I’m going to double check the clearance on the H bars and see what it’s doing because it was shifting good and then they started acting up again

I don't recognize your term 'H bars', but I suspect you are talking about adjusting the position of the intermediate plate in the clutch stack. Is that correct? If so, and you adjusted it correctly and it moved, you might want to pull the assembly and have a look at the splines on the disks and the splines on the stub shaft they ride on. If there is a lot of wear the disks can hang on the shaft, which might cause the intermediate plate to move. Not sure what else would cause it to move.

Pull the slave off the bell housing and pump the rod in and out about a dozen times by hand, reinstall and check back in with us.
