Default PO Exercises in FUBAR .... Look away.

Having worked on more than a few cars that the PO or their mechanic worked on I have seen some horrible things.

Today was the topper. The PO installed a Sanden AC compressor and did some custom AC pipe bending and used a hose clamp on the low pressure side.

Now I need to tow the car to my buddy's shop to get the system evacuated and source the correct hoses.

Oh the horror, the horror.

Custom pipe bending - yikes.

Hose clamp on a cut down low pressure line. And the AC blew cold.

I agree. Very little success in what the Wolverine was doing to your car.

Notice anything amiss with the motor mounts I removed from the same car?

Believe it or not back in the day when AC was a dealer-installed option they were often spec'd out with worm-clamps just like that, and they actually hold fine.

I have heard from others the same in regard to the low side.

There's a retrofit kit out there for the Sanden compressor onto 944s that uses such a clamp on the high-side of the compressor as well, I installed one once and it worked fine.

I was as surprised as you...
