Default Direction Indicator

Hi!

I recently heard a snap noise while driving, and only realized that it had something to do with my direction indicator after it didn't switch off by itsself. My turn signals are working perfectly, but I have to manually swith them off now (ie. it odesn't by itsself after turning).

Is there something I can "Super Glue" together?

I've got an extra if you want it. $20.00. Works fine. Markings are a bit worn.

Reminds me. Does Jager make replacement stickers for the turn signal assemply yet? I like the ones they did for the console buttons.

Thanks JE928, but I live in South Africa, so postage would be more than that :-) Just wanted to know about a quick fix in case there were any...

Is there a fix for this?

Perhaps the broken part is a 3D printing candidate?

What year is you're car? The 89 is year specific, because of the digital/analog dash.

Sounds like the "tab" broke off of back of the "Steering Wheel Contact/Slip Ring. Part Number 928.347.099.00

Simple install, remove steering wheel, then remove a couple of screws and replace with the new one.

You can pull the steering wheel real quick to confirm. See pic below to see tab that most likely broke off.

Hope that helps,

Dave

Nice an old thread from 2004.

the part that breaks off is inside the TS housing .

its a small white piece of plastic held in position with a spring,
it toggles back and forth as the horn ring finger passes it.
The internal parts of the switch wear out over time.

someone here has taken the switch apart and fixed it with parts from another broken switch.

At this point it would be a good idea to buy a good used switch or buy a new part.
