I want to see what Greg Brown or Dave C. have to say about this.
On first viewing it appears to be well presented BS. What did they bill their labor at? $500 per hour?

At dealership rates and parts prices I could see the bill hitting that much. Plus whoever works on it can pad their time as it has the reputation of being a “complex” car. Perfect storm for billing purposes.

If you watched all of the 2nd part, that would explain why it cost so much. At dealer prices that $75k bill doesn't sound too bad.

Hmm; he keeps referring to a timing chain, plus plenty of other stuff that is just wrong. He thrust bearing explanation is incompetent babble. Overall, very bad presentation by a guy who doesn't know a lot of what he is talking about. I would never let that guy touch my car.

Yeah, they spent $700.00 for a new tensioner when for $20.00 they could have rebuild it. He got hosed by his own mechanics. Same with the oil pan gasket.

Calgary is in Alberta, Canada...so 75K CDN is roughly 57K USD at todays rate. I looked at this car when it was for sale in Vancouver back in 2008...22.5K CDN asking price at that time...

if shop rates are $120/hr - it doesn't take long to get there...they worked on it for 18 months...

What I find mildly amusing is that they didn't know (so obviously no seasoned/dated techs in the shop) to check for TBF first.......then worry about the already repaired $2G dent in the rear end.
If the guy let it go for the price quoted, I'm almost willing to bet the vendor knew what was up. BTW, Last I checked, which would be about seven years back now, $150/hr (Cdn.) was Toronto dealer pricing and Montreal was about $120/hr.
Likely higher than that now, for sure.
Just another example of how the dealers have no clue anymore about these cars unless they have guys really close to retirement now in the shop who remember the 928.
There are however specialists we all know and appreciate in the "Independent" group....Thank God. ((Or what/whom ever your personal beliefs dictate) PC clarification there),
Upside is of course, that whoever buys the car has "Porsche" parts throughout. Downside is, I hope the techs used calibrated torque wrenches and had a list of the specs......
