Which led us back to Porsche OE pads. Yes, they dust some (no worse than others) but it doesn't seem to stain, they are good when cold and terrific when warmed up, we haven't been able to overheat them and rotor/pad wear seems OK. They do squeal occasionally at very low speed (no dampers) but we've certainly experienced much worse...
At the risk of sticking to the topic, I agree with Jim here on all points. The OE pad compound is a very good compromise for 'normal' 928 on-street driving.

Even at employee cost...they better be.

Can't beat OEM, but your wheels look like they were rolled around in a coal mine after a week. I picked up a set of ceramic brake pads from R1 Concepts. While I lack virtually low-to-no dust, I agree with Greg about the squealing. However, I didn't see much difference in stopping performance compared to OEM, but I haven't exactly tried to overheat my brakes either.

I saved a leg with the kid's discount at least.

..or at least leg above the knee.

Kicking up an old thread...
My "brake pad" dash warning light came on as I was braking at a stop light. Not an aggressive stop but since the light turned on during braking I am hopeful that the pad sensors were working and that it's not a gremlin. The front rotors are slotted and not worn bad. The rears are flat disc but also not worn bad. Probably just need to replace pads and sensors.
So...as the thread states, go with OEM or some other pads? My #1 ask is stopping power when hot/cold and #2 is dusting. I have BBS RS wheels and keeping them clean is a PITA so if I can keep dust to a minimum that would be super.

There is always a trade off when choosing pads. A good few people here like Hawk HPS pads, they don't dust that much and stop well at all temperatures you would see on the street.

Only thing is that they wear the rotors more than stock. The stock pads are fairly dusty but stop well at street temperatures and don't wear the rotors that much.

For a street driven 928, I agree with those who say OEM is the best pad overall, and I've tried many over the years. Equally good stopping power cold/hot, no squeeking, and their dust is easy to clean off too.

For track duty, Pagid Orange are hard to beat at big/fast/long Road America. But for street they'll squeal like crazy because they'll never get to their operating-temperature window.

One of the worst pad experiences I had were street-type Hawk's, can't remember their name, on my Z06. They dusted the wheels and side of the car, and then got wet - it was nearly impossible to remove from the Torch Red paint. That was it for Hawk pads, and went with ceramic pads after that, no dust and worked well for street duty, a very nice win-win after those Hawks nearly ruined my car.

For a street 928, go OEM!

Original Porsche pads and rotors are the way to go. The rotors on my car are about 15 years old., look like new and drive straight (no vibration, no nothing). Pads have been changed once since the new rotors installed... no squeal, no nothing. I don't mind the slight dusting and it rises off like butter.

Porsche OEM is high quality and is the only way to go on most items on those cars. No second guessing.
