I'm still trying to figure out if its the left side thats twisted backward or the right side? Or is the the left front/right rear or right front left rear based on primary load being braking verses drive thrust?

Maybe I'm in the minority that still appreciates a big fat lip in the rear. The non staggered look does nothing for me

One can assume something and be perfectly correct but on the other hand, knowing for sure that something is correct is a different matter altogether. It would be interesting to know how much different the stresses generated within a wheel are when rear mounted and front mounted on the same vehicle. I would think there will be plenty of margin in the design but for sure I do not know that.
You are WAY over thinking this. You have no idea how many custom wheels I've been involved with ordering, assembling, truing up etc... When we order parts for wheels it's never specified front / rear. When you order a replacement 10" wide barrel you don't specify front or rear. Same for any other part of the wheel.

I have no idea what the conditions which lead to the Challenger explosion and the frozen o-rings has to do with wheels.

928's came with square wheels configurations until 1987. Same wheel. No amount of anecdotal evidence is going to convince me that in 1987 Porsche designed a wider wheel based on the same casting and it's weaker than the previously made front. If that were the case, you know darn well Porsche would have released a tech bulletin about it.

Case in point: The Porsche classic division is currently racing a 928 with S4 rear wheels on the front. There is a thread on it.

Now I'm gonna go rotate my wheels.

That's the #1 thing I hate about the 928 suspension geometry, no easy way to run a fat lip front wheel.

I wish when the owner of my 79 back in the 90's took 8 phone dials and made a set of wider ones, started with '86 951 versions for the rear to get that deep lip. I might still make another set.

No, but not many cars will allow a fat lip in the front. My 911 I have a 1.5" on the HRE's in the front with a 3" lip in the rear.
My 928 will have a 1" lip in the front and a 4" lip in the rear!!

There was a beautiful red GTS at the 2012 OCIC running 19's that looked great. IIRC you could have special ordered these in correct offsets for the 928. If you like these wheels^^check with Kevin/Hold On. He pulled the same type wheels off his 928 and swapped in diff wheels...they may be for sale? (sorry..do not know Kev's offsets) T
Does anyone know the name of these wheels? They are absolutely stunning.

Tire Rack had a heavily discounted sale with proper offsets for the 928 7-8 years ago and they went fast. I know of one guy who purchased several sets. T

For sale are these 19" wheels and tires off of a 2007 9114S. Spacers and extra lug nuts are part of the sale. Will sell with or with out tires. Rims are in excellent condition. Tires have just under 15k miles on them. All for $1,900.00 plus shipping.

Hey Hacker
Can I ask what modifications you had to make to make 10" Turbo Twists fit? Could this be done with an s4?
Thank you
James

That's my '93 GTS 5 speed. They're 18" Moda wheels with Porsche center caps, 8.5" front running 255/35 tires and 10" rears running 295/30 tires.

Hey Fred^^Must of been Kevin's (Hold On) that had the 19's. Kev's car below at the 2012 OCIC in Kansas. IIRC Kev removed 19's wheels because of trammeling but boy they sure did look good on his car.

Tony, yep, those look like 19" and look really nice. Hard to believe that was five and a half years ago!
