Default Theo Tool won't connect to PSD

Connects to everything else on our 90GT, but PSD.

What does Theo have to say?

Close to a Bosch Hammer?

Any ABS errors?

Theo has not responded.

ABS warning - yes. Lot's of errors - PSD pump is not running at startup. Vessel pressurizes during bench testing. No juice to the pump. Fuse is good and shows power at the fuse and #30 at the relay block. Traced from relay block to harness at pressure sender and have continuity.

Kevin checked the two pin connector near the PSD and it is connected.

Just would be nice to use the tool. Pretty strange.

Hmmm.... might be time, while you wait for Theo, to check continuity from the ABS/PSD ECU and check that it is getting its power and ground.

If Theo's tool is reported to be able to find the ABS/PSD ECU then the likely reason it can't find it is because the ECU is not powered-up or there's a break on the diagnostic lines from the 19-pin plug.

I have a spare ABS/PSD Controller (ECU )you can switch out to see if it solves the ABS/PSD light being on and not functioning. I chased a problem over a year to discover the Controller (ECU) was the cause. I bought this controller and did a "Hail Mary" and put the defective one in the oven at 300 degrees F for a half hour. Fixed the problem and has been good for 5 months. I can ship this one I bought for you to borrow/try and see if if this works.

How did baking fix the problem with it? Just in case I run into this in the future.

I had wrestled with the ABS problem over a year after test numerous times and witching out relays, fuses, sensors, wiring to the controller. Only thing was left to switch the controller. I ordered a used one out of England and while I waited for it to arrive I figure what do I have to loose if I stick it in the oven. I knew about re-flowing circuit board by heating in the oven so I gave it a try. Couldn't believe it worked and has been working ever since June. Hopefully it will hold up with colder temperature changes. It certainly held up all Summer.

Well, last weekend we spent some time verifying continuity from the diagnostic plug to the ABS/PSD ECU and ECU to grounds. All seemed ok. This weekend I'll swap the loaner into my 90 and verify the test unit is working. Need to rule that out.

Spent a bunch of time testing for constant power and grounds at the ECU, CE panel and relay and fuse in the spare tire well.

What would cause the ECU not to fire up? We did test continuity from the CE panel relay to the ECU harness. Don't recall an issue.

Update...

No progress. We swapped the GT computer into my 90 S4 and and no issues. so, we are faced with a problem localized to the GT's wiring.

Any help is appreciated.

FWIW, my DT999 would never successfully connect to the PSD controller on my '90 S4. I had an e-mail exchange with Theo about the issue back in 2010, but never resolved the problem.

If it would be of use to you, I could forward those e-mails to you. They did contain some interesting information.

Need a better plan of attack. Does anybody have a diagram of the ABS/PSD harness pin outs?

I visited Office Max to get pertinent pages enlarged. Noted ground points for the ABS unit and ABS/PSD Controller.
