HVAC Control Unit Relay Replacement - Gruner202
The relay in my control unit failed this summer, but since my unit was perfect otherwise I decided to replace the relay vs getting a rebuilt unit.
I know the stock relay is under rated for the 3 amps that the compressor will draw, but the first one lasted over 30 years, so this one should last until I'm 87 at least. LOL
I got the relay here (just purchased 2 more to have on hand):

As the wiring, connectors, the freeze switch, and the magnet for the clutch age, the current draw goes up, not down.
A slightly higher amperage relay than stock might be better?

Maybe, but it was a choice of $70 cdn for the relay from Germany or $550 cdn for a rebuilt unit from the US. I will report back next summer if it fails or not.
