There is actually a funny story about this car relating to this threads topic and I did not have time to relate it when leaving the above post.
This car used to live in Florida near my home. It was kept on an estate in a guest house garage behind a gated entry where I could occasionally see its nose peaking out. It was such a tease when I would drive by in my GT or S4 5 speed and see this gorgeous GTS! This went on for a couple of years as I travelled this route often on the way home from the one of the Hospitals I served.
One day, the gate was wide open and the car was sitting right outside the front door showcased in the circle drive in front of the formal entry. I wasted no time and pulled in to see if I could talk to the owner! Finally!
I rang the doorbell and waited, waited, waited... A gentleman finally appeared at the door and enquired as to what I might want? I promptly complimented the car and asked if it were, or would ever be "For Sale"
He looks at me, glances at my car (so he knows I'm a real 928 guy) and says "No the car is not for sale, it will NEVER be for sale, and you need to LEAVE!".
Off I go... But occasionally I would see the car, lurking, teasing me from its beautiful setting. I would also rarely see a truck and horse trailer in the circle drive. Rumor had it that this guy's daughter was a hot model from the 80's but I will not reveal her identity in a public forum. Yeah, perhaps now I'm teasing you...
Fast Forward nearly 20 years to September 29th 2018. I am investigating the car with the selling dealer and he is telling me the "story" behind the cars trade in at his exotic car store.
It turns out that the owners daughter had inherited the car when her father passed away and had great trepidation regarding "selling it". She was to keep the car according to his last wishes as his personal gift to her. It was not to be sold! EVER! But she was not a car gurl - she was a horse gurl... In my experience "Horse Gurlz" are a wee bit different from the crowd. Not necessarily in a bad way, in fact they are usually strong independent women!
After three years of the car just sitting there with rare use she decided that she could only trade the car for something she really wanted. Dad would be or have to be OK with that. The (eventual) selling dealer happened to have this exotic Roeleofsen style Horse transporter that he was having a hard time moving. Keep in mind that she lives in Virginia and the dealer is in Arizona. She fly's out there several times with tons of photos of the car. He tells her to sell the car and they can do the deal with the proceeds. She says "NO" I can only trade it in on something I really want because of my dad's wishes. I'm really not supposed to ever sell the car but I think he would want me to have what I want. I'll only do a trade.
This goes on for a few months... The dealer does not want to deal with an unseen trade. The gurl does not want to sell the car outright... Stalemate...
Finally, the dealer relents and takes the car on her representations in trade. The rest is history, and the story of how an emphatic "No" became a uniquely treasured "Yes".

OK, enough of her history of not being for sale. Now I'm looking for a name for her???????
Fall colors are great here and I am getting some miles on and burning up that slightly nasty 1/4 tank of gas that was in her. First I filled it to 3/4 tank with 91 octane, burned most of that and filled it with 93 octane. Now I've got that burned down to almost 1/2 tank. Hopefully I'll get good enough good weather to burn almost all of that and fill it with 93 and change the oil and coolant for her winter slumber.

Like, what is the end game here? He's not wrong, it does need work, but the only thing he could possibly know it needs from where he was is paint. Does he think I somehow know less about my own car than he does so he I will somehow be convinced to give it to him for such a low price that he can flip it for a profit? I honestly don't get it.
It's even worse, because my kid was in the car with me and started laughing his *** off...I've been grumbling about this for three days, so I thought I'd update the thread with this little rant...

Wait a second! The Thug is way cool! It's the bad boy 928 with patina and attitude! I like it!
But I also feel your pain... I have been insulted by Porsche 911 people when I brought my formerly crusty Outlaw GT to a Porsche event as well, sometimes it seems like they do it just for the fun of it. When it happens in front of your child it is way worse.
Just remember... The Thug makes Snow White blush...
Hopefully the Thug and Snow White will get together at some event and have a photo opportunity that allows those of us who appreciate your car to have a beer and share a laugh.
