Sponsorship urges new paint job before SCCA Natinoals should I?
There is an exciting, huge project that is happening in the south bay that involves race cars, waterskiing and many other sports on a huge chunk of land in the south bay area. this group is offering to sponsor my race car for the Runoffs, BUT, i need to paint it with some crazy paint scheme. the artist is an up and coming talent in the Los Gatos area and has a car that is quite a spectacle. anyone living in Los Gatos knows this car. i would never consider this paint job, but he did a BMW M1 for a friend/client and they are thinking of painting my car, or wrapping and painting my car (if possible).
In the picture, my car, the artist's car and a couple of folks from Club Sportiva in the club auto sport organization.
Should i do it , or not?

Get it wrapped, not painted.
IMO, that first BMW does not look good at all.

Right now , the only sponsor i have is - 7 Palms Ranch. they are planing to make a huge facility with will include a race tack, equestrian, water skiing, volleyball, concerts, and with auto storage facilities, as well as condos on the lake. its going to be built in Holister California, only about 40mins form the silicon valley.

Wrap would be ok(if they are paying), no paint.
edit; I realize that art is truly subjective, but neither of those jobs on the BMWs are remotely artistic to me. Splashing random colors around and calling it art escapes me. Maybe I just need some ganja to appreciate it, or a zucchini/spaghetti dinner bottle of cheap red wine so I too can barf in technicolor.

anyway, yes, the wrap was the only way i was going to do it. it was like 4k and we ran out of time, and i was running out of interest as i like my car red. so, we are setting for some stickers!

I actually like some of those a lot...but not the one of the BMW next to your red car. That had to be literally several ketchup squeeze bottles of paint applied randomly.
Still, if the artist becomes famous, it can be worth more than the car ever was. I saw some motorcycles painted similarly in Wynwood last year that were selling for ridiculous money because the artist was supposedly famous (I'd never heard of him, but that's no surprise).

I'm wondering what you would do if you wreck a fender or something(?) Would the guy be available for a wrap and re-paint?
They did an artistic wrap and paint at the Austin 70th Sportscar Together day. (sauce: https://www.hcrpca.org/wp-content/up...compressed.pdf)

once upon a time i met a guy with an old BMW who painted the whole body with chalkboard paint, and carried lots of chalk with him to meets and stuff.
you could change your sponsors on the spot

I dunno...
Your car is already iconic...
maybe if they just "freshened" it?
Maybe larger 19, or something like that?
Red Porsche race car. I fail to see the problem here. LOL
One vote for CLASSIC KIBORT
