It's printed correctly, but relay IV isn't defroster. It's switched ignition (X bus).

It says 85/86 on the top of that picture, but that isn't an a 85/86 relay board. Rear defroster on an S3 is a double-wide relay in sockets 1 and 2. Very last page of the WSM diagrams will have the correct order.

Well, I'm off a bit too. That's the correct layout for the panel, but the numbering isn't sequential. The defroster is the double-wide in the lower left and starts I-II, then the first relay in the upper left is III. Alan has a good description of fuse panels here https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...all-years.html

Default 12/84 S3

On my CE panel the first relay socket is not used like the 928 Intl diagram. I’ve replaced the “53” relay with a known good one in the II and IV relay sockets and still no joy for power to terminal 30. I’m going to dig deeper Tuesday morning.

Problem solved. I learned something new some of you already know. The relays on the CE panel are not number left to right starting at the top. Relay I-II is the “back window heater” but it the first one on the bottom row. III starts the top row then IV, V drops down to the bottom row.

Good job figuring it out - the wiring diagrams are tricky to decipher.
