Default Mmerlin: AC Part Question

PN 92860615000

It is my understanding, that replacing this part should not vent the AC, because it sits on a schrader valve...can you confirm this?

Yer about the smarted AC guy I know..and Ive never see this part discussed before.

I need to replace mine, and I have a full R12 system currently.

Yes, there's a schrader valve in there. Should be ok to remove from a filled system. 19mm wrench to remove, 22 mm to counterhold.

Keep in mind that once you take it off the rad fans will default to full blast.

FWIW, this part virtually never fails. It's the transducer for system pressure, used to control the fans and flaps based on heat load in the high side of the system.

Jeff, curious what's leading you to replace the part other than for appearance.

Its rusted and ugly...the only part under my hood that looks old.

That's it..a new one isnt Cad plated like new was, but, its not rusty. This car sat for 9 straight years 2 owners ago under a tree.

Had to replace a few as they start to leak at the electrical connection points.

Hey Jeff - be careful when tightening the electrical connectors. the posts can break off without to much torque. Ask Michael - he knows all about it. :-)

Yeah -- there's a reason why there are plastic thumb-nuts on them for the electrical connections.
