Cheers

Could be either. Typically, the autos had 15" while the 5 speeds had 16", but there were always exceptions either way. Personally, I like the deep dish look of the 16" much better, than the "flat face" look of the 15" wheels. Also, with the 16" wheels, you can see the earliest hints of what was to become the great Cup 1 wheel. At least I do. Here's one of mine:

My '82 5-speed came to me with D90's but the PO also supplied the original phone dials. As Ed notes above, there are exceptions... Mine came with 15". I was working on refinishing them recently and got tires mounted yesterday and got them on last evening. I can say the 15' versions don't quite fill the wheel arches like 16's do, but I am satisfied. Hey, they were free so I rehabbed them.

Ok, thanks guys. Mine is a 5 speed so 16's it is. I'd hard pressed to find 15's here anyway.

Did you consider going for a taller sidewall?

My 79 parts car has 15's. The wife is jonesing to get it out of here but its here for another year as I've barely picked it apart. Are the 15's even worth keeping? They are painted body color red.

Yes, 15's are worth keeping. Your car will thank you someday.

You wouldn't happen to have the rear brake shields that you'd like to sell? My 79 came from Alice Springs where it spent it's life from 1981 to 2016 and the rear brake shields were removed to stop stones and crap getting stuck in between the shield and the disk. Common thing to do in the Aussie outback.

Late to the party, all 3 of my cars came with 16” phonies....they are all 5speed cars, so I guess the 15/16 for auto/stick holds true...I love them.
