Default Fuel rail cover insulation deteriorated

here is a shot of the underside of my RH fuel rail cover; most of the insulation has deteriorated. is there some
material that others have used to fill in that void? the covers themselves seem to offer protection and I wonder
if its a good idea to add something in there, or just leave alone?

I used foam insulation tape, with cable-ties to hold it in place. The purpose is sound attenuation rather than thermal protection (the bottom is exposed to the local heat source) so almost any weatherstrip that will fit under the covers will be fine.

The later GTS covers come with integral insulation.

I have never done any testing but the part was only added to the GTS along with other parts to lower noise levels. Examples = Intake tubes, rear complete fender liners.

That insulation looks fine to me, I don't see where any is missing.

Rob is correct and they are the latest covers with the integral insulation.

I used Pipe insulation from a hardware store... like this

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King-...lation/1060005

But mine covers are from an S4 with no intergrated insulation.

Apology for slight hijack, but it is related: Roger, any thoughts on the GTS intake tubes, value of the originals? Is it just about sound reduction? Are they available, if so how much? I am using S4s. I have the originals, but they are turning to dust. Just wondering.
