Good luck, Shawn! You can always bring the miniature version.

So, an update on Stitch: Josh, the body guy who's working on my 911, came over and took a look at the car where it has been forlornly sitting for a year. He gave me a thumbnail estimate of $1,500 to straighten the subframe. That's a no-brainer; the car will be going to his shop soon. He can also handle the color match and repaint.

Unfortunately, I won't see it until I get back from deployment (which also takes me out of all next year's events). But that's okay; my car will be waiting for me when I get back.

Now: Who's got an early pax-side fender?

This is a mixed bag of news!

Glad to see your car being saved, that is excellent!

Stay safe out there man and get your *** back in the states. Keep your physical sub-frame INTACT. God speed, and God Bless.

Glad to hear that this is being repaired! I have a couple of curiosities. Was the front inner structure entirely missed during impact? I am referring to the nose of the unibody where your hood striker plate is located. Also, what type of frame rack is your guy using? I assume hood, fender, and door gaps were unaffected by the incident.

Yeah, pretty much. It was actually the wheel that hit. There's a small scrape on the fender and the support bracket ahead of the wheel was bent, but that's it as far as I can see.

Appreciated, but I don't need - nor do I have room for - an entire car. Plus, you're like a thousand miles away.

The super cheap '89 Cab is done and I'll pick it up on Monday, so it's Stitch's turn at the body shop.

I didn't understand the history of what was going on with your car so this thread has cleared a lot of things up.

Would you mind sharing who you're working with for the body and paint? My 2 other transaxle cars are each in need of some love and attention on the body and paint side of things and Stan only recommends someone for body work, but not paint.

I'm glad that things are getting taken care of and to echo Majestic Moose, if you ever need a hand or a lift to do some work, I'm in the area and happy to help/learn.

Cheers

It's guy local named Josh. His business is 'DB Auto Body' in Kingston, but I was introduced to him through a friend he did some work for, so he's always been 'Josh' to me. Super friendly and helpful guy. He did a repaint and re-leading of my friends E Type Jaguar and did an amazing job. He also did the front suspension pan on my 911 Cab. When I get the red car back, the 84 is going in to get the rubbies and spoiler removed, so I'll probably have a significant respray done at that time.

I wish I could recommend the guy who did my red car, since he perfectly filled the rubbie holes and blended the paint. Unfortunately, he was an older and unhealthy guy, and he passed away.

Thanks, and ditto: If you need someone to hold the flashlight, let me know.

Hey, how about a monthly 928 Breakfast for eastern PA and northern NJ? There must be at least 8 or 10 Shark owners in the area. I can think of six off the top of my head.

Stitch got back from the body shop last week. It only took Josh a couple days to get everything back into spec. The bill for the pull came to around $700.

I used a bottle jack to open up the wheel that was crushed in the wreck and found that the spindle, brake disk, and caliper were in fine shape. The disc and caliper went back onto the car. I have a new brake line attached to the caliper and I'm working to get the cruddy union with the hard line apart so I can get the braking system back together.

I've sourced a fender, wheel well inserts, washer tank & pump, and horns from a wreck, courtesy of Kevin Lacey. I'm meeting him on Friday in Gettysburg to take delivery.

Things are moving along for Stitch!

The brake and caliper are back on and, after much effort and some serious vice-grippery, so is the brake hose. I'm just a power-bleeder away from having brakes.

The new pigtail for the alternator arrived, I've depinned the two wires I don't need, I just need to get some silicone into the connector and the alternator can get back in there.

I met Kevin Lacey in Gettysburg late last week and got a pile of parts he pulled off a wreck he's breaking, to include a fender with marker light, washer fluid tank and pump, horns, charcoal filter, and a few odd brackets. That should be all the parts I need for the front end.

A wheel is on the way from Wayne Strutt, and it should be here today.

If the weather holds, This car might actually be assembled and running this weekend!
