Default K2 Spring

Hi All,

Refreshing my transmission valve body, new K1/K2 springs and adding gasket to separator plate, along with new B2 piston with guide in main body. Found my K2 spring had imploded which explains the 3 -> 4 flaring.
Should I just put this down to fatigue or is there something else I should check before putting everything back together?
The bore is smooth other than some scratches at the base.

Thanks,
Gary

Good find!

Springs do fatigue and break. There's really nothing else to look for....there's no other cause.

What are you replacing both springs with?

And apparently a new piston!

I'd love to know that part number, if you have it.

Mercedes, here, is not much help. If you don't give them a vehicle VIN and a transmission number, they don't want/claim they can't help.

Default K1/K2 spring replacement

K1 Valve body kit and K2 Thrust pin kit

Not sure if this is of any help but the Mercedes part numbers are A1262700335 for the K1 valve body kit and A1262704477 for the K2 thrust pin kit. Inexpensively sourced from local Mercedes dealer. (The spring wire thickness, coil number and configuration has slightly changed on the superceded part)

Other/old part numbers are 1282770932 (K1 body) and 1282771032 (K2 body).
