Default Parking lot damage advice

My 1991 S4.

I was parked at the golf course yesterday and someone backed into the car just behind the right rear wheel and just below the fuel filler neck. He contacted me to tell me what happened, very apologetic, all that stuff, but it is still dented up pretty good. I will be talking to his insurance rep tomorrow, he is insured with Farm Bureau. Mine is Liberty Mutual.

The car is in excellent condition, mechanically perfect after many years of slowly working on things. The paint is original, pretty good overall, but not perfect, looks much better than its age would suggest, still very shiny.

How will this be repaired? Do I need a new quarter panel or can a good shop fix it without replacing it? Can any good body/paint shop be trusted to do the work or does it need to go to a restoration type shop.

Thanks for the advice.

TO keep as much original as possible, I wonder what a PDR guy could do first, then if it still needs work, then have it filled, blended, etc. Just a thought.

I would find a PDR guy and let him get the panel straight then take it to the paint shop a straight panel will need a lot less filler to make it look good again.
Find the best shop for old school repairs they will do a better job refinishing your machine.

Any quality body shop can handle that repair.

The way the fuel door compartment is is made and the crease there is going to be tough to get correct.

I actually just watched a paintless dent repair video of a more severe dent than yours in the same area, on YouTube last week, they did a remarkable job., I will link the video below if I can find it again.

Wow. And I have almost exactly the same damage- will definitely keep this in mind for when the time comes.
