Default Ride Height

This is a dumb question I am sure, but search is not my friend. When trying to raise the stance of a car ('86.5) which way is the collar (adjusting nut) turned? I am finally getting around to putting shocks on my cars and am not sure which way raises.. The measurements npw are 150 - 155 on all corners.

Looking up from bottom of shock, clockwise to raise ride height, anti-clockwise to lower.

Raising the collar on the shock body sleeve raises the car. They are all right-hand threads. If you are going back with the same springs, you'll have the collars and sleeves off anyway. Measure the current position of each collar on its sleeve before unscrewing them. Add a generous amount of anti-seize to all the threads before and after you have them at their new positions but before assembling them on the shock tubes. Lube the friction faces where the collars contact the lower spring perches. so you can do any fine tuning needed on the car. Then assemble on the shocks and on to the car.

Tag the springs before they come out so they don't get mixed up L-R.

Another question... the distance from the bottom of the sleeve to the bottom of the collar is 35mm. The ride height on this side (pass. rear) is 156mm. If I raise the collar 5mm to 40 is the increase in height proportional? Will ride height be 161mm?

Thank you for the replies, I see Andre is going through the same exercise a s I am. I just want to be sure what I am doing as I will be doing all 3 cars (and probably my 3 944's as well)
