Guess this Part - 928 S4
Hi Team,
Just collected my 89 S4 back from the shop. Had its MoT and passed. Getting her fettled for the roads here in Banbury UK.
However - I’ve got three parts I cannot find where to put.
Can anyone identify the parts.
Marco

Hi Marco --
Welcome to Rennlist!
I'm sure we can help identify the pieces if you could offer a couple more hints. As a new user, you'll find that your ability to post pictures is restricted. You'll need to have some more postings, or invest in a paid membership. If you are like most owners here, the small investment in the paid membership pays off rather quickly with the quality of support you'll receive. Click on the "Membership" tab above to get started. Once that's settled, you are invited/encouraged to share some info about yourself, your car and the history you have with it. Info threads are much better with pictures, so that membership will pay off nicely for all of us.
Again, welcome to Rennlist!

You can post links to them if they are in a public section of a hosting service. Otherwise, less than $20 for a year of membership. Bargain, IMHO, and you cam post pics and descriptions together in threaded bliss.

The big piece looks a bit like the fuel tank cradle [edit: I meant the fuel pump cover as per Stan's post]. The plastic bit is the cover for the hot post in the engine bay and bugger knows what the other piece is.

Fantastic
thanks Fred
- they didn’t do any work on the fuel tank or ancillaries - I’m sorting a leak from power steering so I’ll have a look at fuel tank area when I have her on a lift
got the hot post for electrics - sorted - many thanks
yes concur on the other bit of plastic - must be from another car...
Off to get full repaint and alloys polished - then a deep valet and ready to enjoy the summer sun
Many thanks again

top to bottom,
the under the pod trim panel it covers the roll switches for the dash lamps and wiper delay speed, secured with two screws.
The elusive Hot post cover found in the engine bay it fits over the hot post and the stud comes through the hole,
Last is the fuel pump cover found under the rear bumper cover on the right side rear of the vehicle, held on with 2 10mm nuts and washers

Crap. For once I knew all the answers and missed out because of timing.
For the first one, you can look up Dwayne's writeup on Pod & cluster removal.
That one looks pretty good. Often, the little 'fingers' are broken off.
I gotta ask: Why did it come 'back from the shop' with loose parts?

Thanks lads
All sorted and attached now - fantastic speed and accuracy on the items. Thank you.
Was getting a minor MoT at local garages and ended up there for over 8 months
- they could not get her started and I now know why - the elusive immobiliser fitted and hidden (switch) under the drivers low shelf had been activated (inadvertently it seems)
Got bored waiting for her return so collected and now have her cleaned and running well with all her bits in the right place.
Off to another paint shop for a good proper respray.
Then I can use her.
Imported direct from Hong Kong to UK with great service history from a garage I use for my 911 in HK with low miles and in great condition. Whilst I have had 911s for over three decades this is my first real 928 to own.
Enjoying the subtle colours and difference from other Porsche’s - looking forward to using her in the UK on good open roads.
Cheers,
m
