Hard start - all of a sudden

As I figured the fuel rails should have residual pressure, I went out and removed the end cap. The ball was sitting in the end and didnt even move until I touched it. There was no residual pressure in the rail. when I removed the ball, fuel dripped out slowly and only because the nose was parked on the downside of a slight incline. According to my readings, the check valve at the fuel pump or pressure regulators are compromised. I lean towards the check valve first because I recently ran my tank low to check the operation of the new pod board kit relative to the fuel gauge. Possibly got something lodged in the check valve. The check valve is between the pump and filter, correct?

I will examine the check valve later today. Can it be cleaned or rebuilt? I am posting these regulators and sensors for advice on bench testing them What is the adjustable one on the far right? Can it be a replacement for my 84?

Toss all of those dampers/regulators in the trash and buy factory new ones. Expensive but you will get 20-30 years out of the new ones. The idle air valves at the top will not effect starting unless the hoses are broken.
