New 16V 928 Cam Gears!

While Porsche makes the HTD gears for early cars, they are not adjustable.
Adjustable cam gears have their own set of problems....namely that they are adjustable.
Frankly, the percentage of the population that can look at cam specifications and correctly translate that to measuring the camshaft on an engine is tiny.
.....And the percentage that can figure out how to get inside the cam carrier on an early 928 and measure the cam timing is going to be even smaller percentage....it's an amazing pain in the a$$.
I'm not sure that a dedicated product to accomplish this will ever sell enough gears to make the initial investment back.
For that tiny, tiny market, I'd suggest just machinging the keyway slot in the stock gears a bit wider....like the later gears. That's what I do, when the early cams need the cam timing to be altered.

If interested I could send you a stock steel 2v 944 cam and crank sprocket combo to measure/mock up for fitment.
Maybe those could work on a 928 with some modification (believe 928 crank snout is a fair bit larger OD)?
There are fewer teeth on the 944 gears though, I think 1 fewer on crank and 2 on cams so you'd need to take up the slack on the belt somehow (5x 3/8")

Bottom line is Greg is prolly right. I would need 50 928 owners to commit to purchase at $375 per pair including anodizing and shipping. I doubt that there are half that many 928 owners who would commit so this plane isn't taking off.
