That appears to be an original aluminum lower ball joint. Very scary sight. It could have been much worse...glad you are fine.

Nobody got hurt. Misjudged the turn on the off ramp from the turnpike and contacted a concrete footing at relatively low speed. I'm hoping it's repairable with new parts, rather than needing any frame work.

Very sorry to see this, Shawn. Looks like the wheel took the impact, and it and the suspension/tie rod absorbed the energy. Bumper cover and spoiler look OK. You might come out well ahead - I did after hitting a fallen tree in the road. But for now, damn.

The most important thing is no one got hurt.

I'm sure you'll get it fixed.

See you at Frenzy Shawn.

You absolutely will. If nothing else, I'll come down in the Cayenne and be the support vehicle.

Good.
I'll have few questions on the Cayenne as I plan to get one (base model - 6 cyl.) in a year or two...

Ouch Shawn, sorry to see that, glad you're ok.

My problems are a bit smaller, I had a belt break on my 86 and it's been a pain to fix... Still need to get a hotel room for at least one night.

Wow, Shawn, that was a hard hit. I'm glad you came out of it okay.

Curt, I didn't realize that the Holiday Inn had run out of group rate rooms. We are supposed to have until Aug 28 to book at the $80 rate. I just sent off an email to my Holiday Inn POC asking her to add some additional rooms.

Thanks! I just booked at the 120 rate, will it auto reduce?

If you booked it through the Holiday Inn web site, maybe. I'll check into it for you and get back to you on Monday.
