Ending ownership
I made a more detailed thread here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...f-vehicle.html
In the time I've posted this I've done nothing to it or about it. Certain family situations pretty much assure I never will either. So I've just decided I need it gone ASAP, I'm just not sure how to go about it. I'll renew my subscription and post a classified, but I don't even know what to ask in price. I'm not listing it locally on craigslist as I'd prefer an enthusiast get it (not that I want to know what happens to it after that).
I'll try and button things up on it and take better pictures, but I don't have a lot of free time for things like that right now.
Sad to be do this on a level, but this thing isn't even on the horizon as a priority to me anymore.

* I've been "trying" to clean the contacts on the instrument cluster for a good 3+ years now
** every time I've tried has required a new battery, I swear it's impossible to get a battery with the right cranking amps. Those giant Group D things I used to use seem to be unicorns nowadays.

The right cranking amps is much lower than the CCA of most batteries, just that the right battery can try to start the car for 20minutes.
Its only maybe..200-250a rush current, and 150ish after that? A 15lb racing battery will still start a 928.
It'll draw more as it heats up.
How are you storing your batteries after you buy them??

So, I tried one last time to get the car started and was going to take video of it. But, despite having had it on a battery maintainer for at least the last month, there was not even a flicker when I turned the key. I think this is going to be a parts car now. But I'm not going to part out, I have even less time for that.

Quick review of pics, put 1500 to 2 k price on it, add a a little more for any still in the pkg new parts, get it gone. Take first reasonable offer. Simplify.
I sold an 84 euro, running strong, needed paint, modernized 5 speed box, for 4500 a year ago to get it gone. Worth more? Maybe, but it didn' matter at that point.
Where is the car? Is this the Omaha one?

Looking at the pics, it's a $1,000 car if you can find someone who knows and cares about Euro 928s or needs one as a parts car. Otherwise, it's whatever the wrecking yard will give you. If it was me, I'd give it away just to get it out of the driveway.
Sorry.
Sorry.

Devin, If your giving it away, I will take it ,
I will get it running again.
I had a free 1984 Euro with auto trans it was a freebie but a bit burned.
The PO had this car for 8 years sitting in the garage it had never ran and he was a Chevy man,
So since he had an old boat sitting next to the garage,
he put 8 gallons of the 2 year old boat gas into the tank and a fresh battery into the hatch area,
it would crank but not run.
He tried to see if the frozen fuel pump was pumping fuel,
Now you should know an otherwise functional Bosch fuel pump with a frozen pump section,
will still conduct electricity thorough the contacts. even though the pump wont turn, fuel will come out of the outlet.
He opened the cap nut at the pump and one touch of the wire to the + terminal of the pump , the frozen pump protested with a spark.
and whoosh, up it went,
a neighbor saw the fire and got his 50 LB dry extinguisher in seconds it seemed.
Since the hatch and doors were open, and the car parked mostly inside the garage,
the two car garage looked like it had just gotten a fresh dusting of snow after the strong work of the neighbor.
The PO went to the hospital with burns on his hands.
then he called me and said come take this car right now.
I lived about 2 miles from the garage where the car was.
My 84 has had a few happy owners since I touched it.
I can have a truck to tow it away in a few days or so.
This is a picture of how it looked after the rear was fixed up

My last $1500 928 investment was towed home, and with a bit of time it drove into the shop. My prev $1500 investment(85 5-sp) ran and got me all the way from Marthas Vineyard to Fort Worth TX with a bit of coaxing. So - what I'm saying is, a barely running, 928 with lots of issues is around $1500 needing paint, int, and modest systems repair. Knock off $400 or so for a non-runner, non-starter, add a few bucks because it's a Euro and anyone is still at $1500 plus the tow/shipping cost which could be $200-$1000. There's a $2500 gem sitting on a trailer a few blocks from my house. It's in similar condition as this, and it's going to sit there for a long, long, long time.
You're still in a rough spot, if you don't want one of us to have it. I would take it on consignment, but I'm not like the other guys here who can have 11 cars sitting waiting for resto. I've passed on a couple candidates because I still have work to do on planes, and boats, and homes, and cabins, and, and, and.
Once you get to bottom-feeder territory, the value drops out like a rock. This is not air-cooled market where a rusty no-engine/trans hulk with a title will bring $6000. This is 928s-ville, and like it or not - we are what we are. Sorry...

Devin,
I am not that far from you. I am up in South Dakota (about 70 miles east of Rapid City). I went through something similar to you (massive heart attack Feb 2013) and minor one in Oct 2016. I kept my 928's and got rid of the ex wife. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
