Default PVGP 2018 - Registration Open

It's that time of the year again - 7 weeks out - The 36th annual Pittsburgh Vintage grand Prix! This has become a world class car event. Come join hundreds of your fellow p-car enthusiasts as we again gather on the lawn at Schenley Park to enjoy our cars and the races. Now is the time to register and get this event on your calendar.

FEATURE CAR - This year we are celebrating the Race Cars of Porsche with two very special cars - the RC Cola 962 and the Flying Lizard 911 GT3RS. You will want to see these cars up close - both significant race cars, including a podium finish at Le Mans (the GT3 RS in '05). We will also feature a handful of special Club race cars in a ring around the two pro cars.

The PVGP takes place in scenic Schenley Park in the heart of Pittsburgh. This is one of 2 vintage races that occur on public streets in the world, the other being Monaco. It is also a significant charity fundraiser – proceeds are donated through the PVGP to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School.

Here are the highlights of the weekend activities to enjoy:

Friday, July 13:
  • Glacier Tour Rally - this event starts the weekend of festivities with a countryside tour though W PA, including lakes, twisties and Amish country. It is a 3 hour tour that starts and ends at the place for the Welcome Party; Driver's meeting at 12:45 pm and wheels up at 1 pm.
  • Weekend kick-off Party at the Double Wide restaurant in Cranberry Township PA – our local Club (ARPCA) will host the out of town clubs travelling to participate in the PVGP. The venue is right next to the hotels and turnpike just North of the City. It will also include a nice impromptu gathering of Porsches of all varieties, including the 962 and the GT3 RS. All local and distant Porsches welcome. Starting at 5 pm to ?
Saturday, July 14:
  • International Car Show on the Golf Course – over 3000 cars on display (BMW is the PVGP Marque for 2018)
  • ARPCA Catered Tailgate Party (starts at 12:00 Noon - open to all participants who register through the ARPCA website and msr)
  • Top 10 Peoples’ Choice Concours (open to all Porsches registered through the ARPCA website and msr)
  • Cool Auction items
  • Vintage Racing Time Trails (come see many classic and vintage Porsches and other great marques participating in the races throughout Schenley Park.)
Sunday, July 15:
  • Porsche Car Show
  • ARPCA Catered Picnic (starts at 12:00 Noon - open to all participants who register through the ARPCA website and msr)
  • Vintage Car Races
In addition, there are many other events taking place in the week and a half up to race weekend, including the big bore historic races at Pitt Race on the weekend before, and the Walnut Street Invitational Car Show, among many other car events.

General prices are as follows:
• Saturday registration for 1 car and TWO people: $85 (includes parking, door prizes, lunch and soft beverages)
• Sunday registration for 1 car and TWO people: $75 (includes parking, door prizes, lunch and soft beverages)
• Both days together registration for 1 car and TWO people: $150 (includes parking, door prizes, lunch each day and soft beverages)• Additional meal ticket for either day: $20 per person (must be registered to purchase extra lunch tickets)

NOTE - due to the growth of this event, you must preregister to be guaranteed a spot on the lawn in the Porsche Corral. It also gets you the discount. Walk-on rate is $90 either day.

To Register, go to our Club's website at http://arpca.com/pvgp/2018-pvgp/. Limitations on refunds apply.

Contact me (Club event chair) with any questions – Ed Rice at pvgp@arpca.com or pm here on the list.

Ed, Looks like none of the Buckeye Landsharks are going to make it for Saturday or Sunday. Too many conflicts and missing work (for me). On another note, there is a good possibility my '86.5 (Blackie) may be coming to live in the Pittsburgh area. I should know as early as tomorrow. Keeping my figures crossed.

Default PVGP

Ed,

Jim Heisick from Lansing ('91 GT) and I'll be there. But, he's driving his F-150 truck to Pgh, and I'm driving the SL55. So, we'll come to PVGP in the SL55 AMG. We'll be parked just down the hill slightly from all you exciting Porsche 928 guys. Look forward to seeing y'all there next weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you Gary, and Jim too. We will again all meet for dinner at the Quaker Steak & Lube Saturday evening, and hopefully you guys can join us for that too. The 928 folks will be there, and some other stragglers as well!

Ed,

Thanks for the invite for Saturday evening. Hopefully we'll be able to get there and be 'among the stragglers'!! I assume that is the Steak and Lube at 1298 Freedom Road in Cranberry Twp, is that correct?

Cheers,

Gary
