Default Opposite of a shaky mirror

My mirror won't slide all the way on the button. I tried another mirror it and it slides all the way. Problem is that that mirror is losing it's mirror coating.

I've tweaked the two tangs to no avail.

Suggestions?

Well, I saw a nice replacement mirror, that looks darn near identical , for sale at the Autozone, for like 16$. Then saw a similar one at the Advance....so there are options...I was about to buy one, but decided to wait....I have 3 mirrors...(1) was good, the other 2 like yours, lost the silver.....I think the mirror head pops off the ball joint...perhaps you can make 1good one between the 2?

I have never heard the mirror pops off at the ball joint. Is this documented somewhere?

yes park the car in the sunshine with the windows up,
let it sit for about 3 hours till its toasty inside,
then gently roll the mirror downwards,
with the mirror hot, the plastic bushing should let it slip off the ball.
NOTE practice on a mirror you dont care about first so you can get the touch

I installed an aftermarket mirror in my Spyder with auto-dimming and Homelink buttons. Works great.

Can you give more details on the install? What parts did you use?

If that was a question to me, I used a Gentex Frameless Auto-dimming Rear View Mirror with Homelink & V1 Performance Package Mirror Mount from Amazon -
https://www.amazon.com/Gentex-Frameless-Auto-Dimming-Homelink-50-genk80a/dp/B00PXGZESO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527706127&sr=8-1&keywords=gentex+frameless+homelink https://www.amazon.com/Gentex-Frameless-Auto-Dimming-Homelink-50-genk80a/dp/B00PXGZESO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527706127&sr=8-1&keywords=gentex+frameless+homelink

Came with the wire channel cover from the header down to the mirror. Bought a set of 3 mirror buttons to have the right one for this mirror mount and then the V1 Radar detector mount separately. Power runs from the secondary fuse box I installed down near the primary one up the passenger side A-pillar and across to the center. It's wired from the switched side of the secondary fuse box so the Homelink buttons only work with the key switched on - this way if I park the car outside at home, someone can't use the Homelink buttons to open the garage door without the car key.
