Hmm...not a bad way to a new head from the dealer. Gotta see the upside.

I assume that’s 100% a joke.

For the innocent newbie reader that comes along in the future: Unless you are a lawyer with unlimited time available there is no free rebuilt engine at the end of this road. There is no way to prove that the valves weren’t bent before the tow truck driver, mechanic, etc., tried to start the car. No party involved is going to gleefully stand infront of a $15k+ bill nor will they want to accept the punishment from an insurance claim (assuming they even have insurance that would cover it, etc.)

To put it bluntly, Worf for the win. Yep, it wound up costing me to have the head fixed, and part of the reason I don't use Porsche anymore for service. No way to prove the belt hadn't already broken, etc etc etc (I think it was a seized idler pulley in my case). Remove the starter or something, although if you have a manual they will probably try to push start it :-)

They said "Disconnect the battery before the tow truck gets there".

Yup, had a shop break my son's VW belt. They denied it but I had the batt disconnected, and my son told them not to start it. They did, and wrecked the head.

Speed: you are the glib one. I also question your math: 09 to 18 is 9 years, (not sure how you get 20); so you are only 4 over what Porsche recommends as the limit on the belt. However I have exceeded that too. But your pump should do better than 30,000 miles. Glad you dodged that one.

Check that...yes, 9...within 12mos the doctor says I can blame my stroke for anything, ill use that card.

Shop has it in the air, they have a Ptensioner in stock and my spare WP made it there today too, ill know soon what actually failed. No idea if they get pics or not.

Not sure how lucky ill get if they have spare other roller bits in stock as well.
