Default Any interest in used 104mm SOHC 944 pistons?

I have 8x 1989 944 2.7L pistons on hand. 104mm alusil bore. These would make a 5.4L 928 with stock stroke.

These are meant for a SOHC/2-valve head and are basically flat-tops, they have 2 valve reliefs and a nickel-size dish around the spark plug (about 3cc piston volume).
They make 10.9:1 compression in a 944, but will likely be a good bit lower CR than that in a 928 due to greater 928 deck height.

Anybody have a use for these in some wild 2-valve hybrid, maybe boosted? Thinking maybe $200 for the set of 8, plus shipping.
Pictures available in a few days when I get home.

When you say "Good bit" can you be more specific?

Yes I am using a set of these in my engine. I lengthened the conrods to make up the height and I have a slightly positive deck height for about 11 to 1 compression. It was overly expensive to adjust the conrods and as such I would recommend custom ones and offset grind the crank to get more capacity or around 5500 cc.

The 944S 104mm pistons are different than the 968 piston. The 944S pistons are fully skirted, whereas the 968 pistons are a "box" design. They both work, but when the block gets bored oversize, the machinist has to run the cutter all the way to the bottom (which makes them very nervous), otherwise the pistons will "hit" at BDC.

Ask me why I know this.....

No, don't. Another learning curve in building stroker engines.

It's been quite a while since I built an engine using these pistons, but I believe the 944S pistons are heavier, also.

These aren't 968 or 944S2 pistons.
These are 1989 944 base model 2.7L pistons.

104mm bore x 78.9 mm stroke, ~40mm or so pin height vs ~36 on the s2/968.

iirc 928 has 2mm higher deck height so installed on standard 928 crank and rods these would fall 2mm below the block deck.
