But I’m already having second thoughts about that reroute. Not sure what to do in absence of the $700 walnut sized tank vent valve. Ideas on this ?
the throttle body is back out after all this and I’ve decided to replace the top end (still supple) breather hoses and throttle body/MAF orings so I won’t have worry about them for a about a decade.
In any event, I was hasty in worrying about the rebuilt MAF.
Early cars used only the secondary valve by the water reservoir. I think they added the walnut sized valve as a double safety (if both valves fail or the single early valve fails, and the "Y" in the fender is good, the gas tank can be sucked flat.)

I've been looking for an ecconomical replacement...maybe I'll get Roger searching. He'll find something.

In the meantime, that new valve will work perfectly.

so, Greg’s mention about the crank case and fuel vapor vent t-connector being a restrictive connector helped a great deal. I replaced my after market connector with the correct T and It runs well and idles properly now.

thanks Greg and all!
