have a non running project car in your driveway?
Beware the code enforcement is out to get it- note the part it must start and run and move or it gets the hook.
Plan accordingly, at least get a cover. Although this is Kalifornia it could happen anywhere,

Almost every town / city has ordinances of abandoned unregistered cars sitting outside. Most areas, as long as it's registered and not an eyesore nobody will notice it hasn't moved in X years. The catch-22 is California where you must get it smogged for registration so by default it must be derivable.
Many HOA's don't even allow cars parked outside unless it's a visiting guest.
