Default Next fix, window guide seals

After looking for a DIY video with no luck, I resort to asking the crew.
Where would one find the front/top/rear channel that the windows index into when fully raised?
I looked at a vendor that has them for sale at $265 a piece which, excuse me, is absolutely f ck ng ridiculous for $530 for two pieces of rubber channel.
One would need plenty of vaseline for that action and I am not down with it.
Makes me think that someone thinks 928 owners are suckers or simply slaves to their cars.

928 537 323 03 and 928 537 324 03. The problem with this is getting the outer bead into the metal channel in the window trim surrounds. It's ok if the rubber is pliable but very difficult if the seal is used. And I agree they're stupid expensive, but they're pretty complex moldings and are flocked on some surfaces but not others. Have to be extremely careful during disassembly not to tear the outer beads off. This makes them unusable, unless you don't care about them not actually sealing. .

Aren't the ones Roger sells? I bought them recently for black 90 S4 that comes out of paint this week.

$265 is a rely good price as List is $314 each.
Very complex seal as already said - I had a number of companies quote to make them but the price was higher than Porsche when you amortized the tooling 8>(.
I sell the aftermarket lower outer scraper seals for $189.95 a pair. That is a much simpler seal to make.

How come the driver side upper window seal is two parts with two numbers and the passenger is one part with one number in Rob's photo?

They are one piece. I have both to go on the 89. My cost was $327 cdn. They were $189 cdn back in 2016. They got jacked up by Porsche sometime last year.

For something that last 30-40 years, I have a difficult time getting worked up over that price. At least they are available..........

$500 minimum for a set of tires that will last 5-6 years.

+1

The price is not too bad, just remember what badge your car is wearing and get some perspective then you will feel better about shelling out.

I've attached a partial list of what I bought so far for the 91 S4 repaint. Not shown is the Porsche double sided tape, lock rubber gaskets and hood badge gasket and door seals, etc.

Here's what it looks like:

Not only are they expensive, but there are fitment issues too. At least on the early cars - mine did not quite work like the originals, and I am not happy with how they fit - not a clean fit on the one I replaced last year, on the passenger side. Here's the thread with pictures: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ndow-seal.html.
I ended up trimming off that extra flap with a razor, in order to get a better fit. Still nowhere near perfect.

Not to gainsay Roger or take food out of his kids' mouths, but I found suitable off-the-shelf replacement rubber cheap.

This for the upper channel: Precision Parts 75 0634 Universal Weatherstrip Seal, Glass Run Channel Weatherstrip type, Sold Individually

This for the bottom: Car Weatherstripping Door Rubber Seal Horizontal Bulb Molded 0.62" Bulb Height x 0.039"-0.137" Grip Range x 0.53 U Height (15 Feet)

Although this should also work for the bottom, and might work better: Precision Parts UWS 137-25 Universal Weatherstrip Seal, Universal Weatherstripping type, Sold Individually.

Here's my original post on this. Be advised that the lower metal framing strip has to be removed, but it looks okay and it's weather tight. Somewhere on here I posted pictures of how it looks, which as far as I'm concerned, is fine.

So your doors have the upper metal framing but not the lower metal framing strip? How does that work where they come together at the rear-middle of the window opening?
