I have been working hard to get my car ready for my Meet & Greet this Saturday. I have done a manifold refresh and after I got it back together and ran it for the first time I lost oil pressure. I replaced oil pressure sensor. The warning light was gone but it wouldn't raise above the 1 bar and the engine sounds loud. I only ran it for about a minute and it shut off and now it won"t turn over. I'm fearing the worst. Does anyone have any thoughts?

If this is the car that the video was posted about the other day, I agree, it sounded pretty bad. Did you by chance have the oil pump gear off the oil pump recently? Wondering if the keyway got knocked out when reinstalling.

What year is the 928?
Changing the pressure sensor should not effect oil flow.

Edit: did not see the vid or know he had the front apart.

I did the timing belt a few months ago but I did't touch the oil pump.

did you refill the oil pan how many quarts did you put in?>
Did you replace the oil pins in the cam journals?
when was the last this engine was running?
If the oil pump was removed and the outer ring gear was put in backwards it will seize.

We did the pins, After the manifold refresh on the test run the oil pressure light came on about a week ago. So when the new pressure sensor didn't show oil pressure. We went went back in and did the cam pins.
About six months ago I did the cam belt, didn't touch the oil pump, ran good until I did the manifold refresh.
When I did the new pressure sensor I change the oil, filled the new oil filter and put a total of 7 quarts in.

Nay, just a little.

9qts does me every time with filter.

2 low, is low, but not 'cant drive it low' by any means. 3...would start to rattle the engine, but 7 is fine, just a little low.

I wonder if the O ring on your sump has dried out/quit sealing and your oil pump is sucking air?

Is there a history of this happening on its own, without anyone disturbing it first?

I can't answer that since I always replace mine anytime I drop the oil pan.
He did say that he showed 1 bar pressure. That could mean that the oil pump is functional, but sucking air as well as oil. Or maybe not.

I would be more concerned about the intake refresh and powder coat - little glass beads into the engine.
Tom assures me the intake was clean.
