WIND DEFLECTOR
While on my 60 mile jaunt today, I used my sunroof and found that the deflector contributed to a lot of wind noise. While holding it down at speed with the sunroof open, I got no noise worth mentionong at all. Has anyone totally removed their deflector to eliminate the noise? What is the purpose of this deflector anyway?

The deflector is there to keep winds from getting under your headliner and ripping it off of the interior of the car. PS don't drive above 60 with the sunroof open for the same reason.
I would keep it

Waltstar,
there are some adjustment screws for the deflector to control how far up it springs.
Maybe try adjusting those to see if you can get most of the noise to go away.

Believe it or not, your owners manual will tell you not to drive over 60MPH with the sunroof open. "higher speeds may cause damage to the sunroof...". At least that is what it says in mine. crazy right?

Not 'don't have it open'. There's a difference.
We do not recommend that the sliding sun roof
be operated at speeds in excess of 100 km/h
(60 mph). The force required to overcome the
resistance of the air pressure at higher speeds
can cause damage to the sliding roof.
