I'm not having luck finding that part (928.607.110.00) for sale anywhere. Do you know anywhere that has it? Or if it's just a wire jumper maybe some photos so I can make one?

Got the first new part on the car. We'll see how much further I can get today, it's starting to look like storms soon.

Old belt had cracking just in the spot. Idler pulley on the waterpump had a notchy bearing that sticks sometimes, so I'm glad I didn't try to fire it up before changing the belt.

Got the tensioner rebuilt now, but it started raining so it's gonna wait for another day to go back on.

The washer stacks were all gunked up, so I took it apart and cleaned off all the washers.

I did reassemble the tensioner, but apparently I missed the shutter button because I thought I took a picture of it, but it's not on my phone.

For now I cleaned, then heated and soldered the metal strap where it was coming apart. Still looking for the wire that supersedes that thing.

I also found that I'm missing one of the tensioner bolts. I've been following along a guide from dwayne's garage and am missing the following bolt. Anyone got a part number for it? Guess the last person to do the timing belt left it off.

Hi Matt,

Happy Sunday! Looks like you have been BUSY!

Paste this part number exactly (with the dots) 928.607.110.00 in the search box on my website www.928gt.com and you will find it.

Cheers,

Dave

I searched that earlier and didn't find it. Must have fat fingered it because I found it now. That'll be on the list of things I order from you tomorrow now.

Thanks Dave, got it. I'm not finding the part number for that bolt on your site. Do you have it?

Yes, we can get that, or anything that is still available even though it may not be on our site (which is rare).

Cheers,

Dave

FWIW I would suggest to remove the two bolts from your new pump and take them to ACE hardware and buy the 5 short ones and the 8 longer ones,
and put some PTFE pipe sealant on the new bolts and install them,
using the old bolts is a recipe for breaking the old bolts off in the block.
The blue RTV helps seal the gasket seal to the block and prevent fluid from migrating over the years and causing the bolts to corrode,
also helps to remove the gasket in one piece when the next pump change occures
the PTFE will prevent the fluid from getting into the block holes and corroding the bolts

I can get the waterpump bolt set from Dave when I order more parts tomorrow. When I put the pump on earlier I used a thin film of ultra grey on the gasket and put some on the threads of the bolts as well.

While I wait for parts I decided to tackle some smaller items. The shift cable is seized at the transmission end. Cable itself moves, but where the rod is in the sleeve it is stuck. So I got an ice pop wrapper, put the end of the cable in it, and filled it with pb blaster. Maybe that'll get it unstuck.

Also wire wheeled and painted the crank pulleys.

Hi Matt,

I must have missed that in class if that is a common practice, but I gotta tell ya, that has to be the coolest DIY trick I have ever seen!

Kudos to you and Mr Freeze!!

Have a great evening,

Dave

I was initially going to do this with an empty plastic water bottle, but didn't want to waste that much pb blaster. Was trying to come up with something that had less cross sectional area and somehow that came to mind. It's still out there soaking now.
