Quietest sport tires

Im likely shopping in the 235/265 18* area for new tires...a screw in one rear tire is probly too close to the edge to get a repair..and these tires are discontinued...

Anyone have experience with any of the crop of noise 'canceling' tires?

I put 225/255 x 18 Pilot Super Sports on my Z4 last year and have been pleasantly surprised by how quiet they are, not to mention how well they grip in the (endless) rain here.

Spend some quality time reading the reviews on Tire Rack and even call them, ask their sales team.

Unfortunately many tires start off really quiet, after some miles turn into mud swampers.

I'm still very happy with the Blizzaks as the quietest and smoothest riding tire I have ever had on my 928. Just plan on replacing every 25,000 miles.

oh yeah blizzaks are quiet but also a winter tire.....very quiet thought. IN the same vein of thought I know some one who buys new tires when about 50 % used due to loss of the snipes causing more road noise......( yep its me)

quietest is continental extreme contact dw - trust me

This is what I have on mine. But I can't compare since it's the only tire I've used thus far. I will say on black asphalt the car is very very quiet. On concrete, not so much, but that is less on the tire and more due to road surface.

And the replacement for the discontinued DW, the Contact Sport is even better.

i havent tried a set of the new extreme sports recently released... i understand conti really went for the mpss feel in this new release and the major change is a stiffened sidewall

so my guess is that the feel of the new tire will be noticeably stiffer/noisier than the old dw -- e.g. more like a super sport

the old dw was very smooth and quiet but because of the soft sidewall it was not as sharp at turn in - can't have cake and eat it too

op asked for quietest sport tire... not the best handling LOL

Yep correction. That's what I have. Not the DWs.

How do you like them? I like mine allot.

KenRudd 04-12-2018 06:01 PM

I'm just amazed you can hear your tires over your exhaust...

Michelin Pilot Super Sports here.
235/40-18 and 265/35-18.
Very satisfied. Quiet and superb grip, dry and wet.

Longtime fan now of the various flavors of the Michelin Pilots over the years. My 928 has only had one other kind of tires on it, the OEM BFG's, and the Pilots were so much better than I haven't felt a need to shop further. I'll need to replace the fronts this year due to age, and will go with a pair of Pilot AS3's to match the rears I put on a couple seasons ago. Tires make such a difference in the comfort and personality of the car, and I like the way it is now. Makes it hard to justify experimenting with lesser tires.

No complaints. Drove a fair bit in the rain last year and grip was never an issue.
