Help with new paint color for OB: weinrot vs kiln red
Car is an '79 india red/black leather interior (salvage-rebuild title from minimal accident-Greg verified after stripping the car down and looked at the body-frame), getting ready for the GB treatment (yes, I've been dragging my feet, as Jake will know), but I really want it painted a color that I really love, besides petrol blue (I already have).
I am debating between metallics of weinrot vs kiln red, both look great in pictures.
My question: to those having owned 1 or both or seen both in person, which would you think is better, in what ways?
Thanks so much

Hoi, Kiln red is just an amazing color. Looks so much better in person, I have actually never seen a photograph that does justice to Kiln Red.

Kiln Red in part shade
Kiln Red in mixed sunlight
Hello Hoi, Just for a perspective from a Kiln Red owner. It is an interesting color and like many others it varies with degree of sunlight. I like the deep aspect to it. Looks like a bronze color depending on the lighting conditions. Good luck with your choice.

Hoi - kiln red may be the most beautiful shark color I've seen. As noted above, it is simply stunning in real life vs. photos. Matt from Rochester has one, which he brings to Hershey and Frenzy occasionally. Weinrot is fine, but more of a burgundy color. I've had both ruby red and garnet red as well. Also, to throw one more kink into your analysis, don't forget coral red - see George M's car. I rate that nearly at the same level as kiln, maybe a very slight tic below on the "love it" scale

On a cloudy & wet day- note the darker tone.
Sorry about the reflections
After waxing- makes it appear lighter
Here's a couple of additional photo's if it helps:

of all the reds I would pick Kiln red first.

is Kiln Red a metallic color?
It is my personal opinion that fine curved designs such as the 928 need metallics for the full reflections to be seen, especially in a bright color.

Thanks everyone! Great insight in the color.
928 kiln: beautiful car you have there in Ireland with Pascha interior! Please post more interior shots too!
William: completely agree that the 928's curves are begging for a metallic color to really show the depth of the paint.
Looks like it may be leaning towards kiln!

Yes William, the kiln red is a metallic color, and the sun makes it quite vibrant from the samples I've seen.

Mine is Kiln red. I love the color and get tons of compliments, Thanks Ed (linderpat) . It is a metallic and is beautiful when in the sun, it tends to change color depending on the light. It goes from copper to red. I don't have a picture loaded right now but it is the car in my profile.

There are several really distinctive reds (IMHO) that these cars love. Kiln red is certainly one of them. Trying to remember the color name for the car Cowboy Dan had for a while, the ex Mark White car. Somebody remembers the name. My memory is that there were very few cars in that color from the factory, and it was stunning. Help an old guy remember....
