My First 928-Introduction
I own a few air-cooled 911s, but have always wanted an early 928. It was my "poster car" as a kid. Been looking for a few years and using this forum for information, which has been an invaluable resource.
I finally pulled the trigger on Saturday and purchased my first 928!
It's a 1982 model, manual trans car with 44,000 miles. Platinum Metallic with Cocoa leather interior. There is no option code sticker in the back luggage area to reference, but I have a COA ordered
The car recently had a full service, including timing belt, tensioners, and engine reseal. Overall it seems to be in great shape.
I'm amazed at the sound and power delivery of the V8. It's different than an air-cooled 911 in all the right ways. Driving this car new in 1982 must have been an amazing experience!
I'm planning on keeping it stock mechanically and improving it in the areas it needs some attention (glove box door is a bit wavy and rear seat leather is hard as a rock). Looking forward to many years of fun in this 928!
Attached a few pics. The photo doesn't do the color justice. Its pure 80s!

Thanks Everyone!
Nicole- The Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio is an amazing car. In my opinion, it is one of the few modern days cars that captures that old school hot rod feel.

Beautiful car. Love the color, and looking forward to seeing interior pictures. Bring it to Hershey to the swap meet next month and meet a bunch of us 928 guys.

Thanks Ed,
I'm planning on attending the Hershey swap meet. Getting in Friday night. I'm hoping to drive the 928. The only thing standing in the way is the rear seat belt (drivers side) is stuck and nonfunctional at the moment. My two young boys want to go and my wife insists they need seat belts If I can't fix it, we'll be heading up in the 964.
I'll post interior pics soon

Welcome. Is that a red 944 hiding in the back?
Rear seat belt is not too big of a deal to replace. 928 International likely has used ones.
Depending on your willingness to dig in, they can sometimes be fixed.
They show as one part, so they aren't intended to be disassembled and repaired, but they screw together and can be taken apart.
The problem is likely that the pawl that keeps it from extending under load is dirty and won't release, so you can't extend it to use it.
There are a few small screws that hold the cover on. Take those off (watch out for the spring) and you can access the mechanism. Getting it back together can be a bit frustrating.
It's a lot like a recoil starter on a small engine (say a chainsaw or weed eater). You have to wind up the spring, hold it in place and get the cover back on without it 'exploding'.
It took me a couple tries to get it all together, but a good cleaning and a bit of lube did wonders for the mechanism.
Edit to add: Some of the guys have access to the options info. There's a "Official VIN check" thread you can post your VIN in and see what it came with. It's a page or two back right now, but if you post in it Rob Edwards or one of the others will usually respond pretty quickly.

Very nice! You mentioned that the pics don't do the color justice. Is it more of a champagne color in person, ie more of a gold tint? I have an '82 924 Turbo in "Platinum Metallic" that does not look as silver as yours looks in these pics. Now, it's been repainted, but from what I can tell the color is basically the same as it was before. Just curious...

Congrats. That's a really cool color. Looking forward to seeing the interior! And I had the same thought when I first got mine on the highway last year, just how incredible it must have been for those driving these things new in the 80's..

Welcome to the Shark Tank, nice looking example, enjoy
I know it wasn't stock for that year however IMO Spacers would kick those rear wheels out a bit for the "wide Track" look that they started in '85
