Differences between M28/43&44 vs. M28/41&42
Hi there,
I wonder what the differences are between the 5,0l ''S3" M28/43&44 and the S4 M28/41&42. The most obvious difference is the intake on the 43/44 vs. the smaller intake used for the S4/GT/GTS.
Why does the S4 have so much more HP?

To my understanding, the heads have differences. Combustion chamber shape is different on S4, valve sizes are bigger on S4. Intake ports are smaller on S-3.
Pistons are different, I think the valve reliefs and bowl on the crowns are deeper on S4's.
I think S-3's have more aggressive camshafts, more like the GT camshafts.
Take all of what I say with a grain of salt. I am by NO means an expert. The above is just what I have read and retained over the past years.
