I have a US 1984 928S Manual transmission car that I purchased about 5 months ago. My current issue is that the factory alarm seems to get set off repeatedly for what I feel is no real reason. If I unlock the car using the A key ( longer Black factory key ) and try and start the car, boom, alarm is set off. Get out, go through the lock/unlock phase using the drivers door. Alarm turns off, get back in, and sometimes this can repeat for 4 or 5 cycles. What I have not tried yet is using the other door or trunk to set the alarm to disarm and then use one of the other B Keys ( shorter red factory keys ) I have read the manual and searched the forum. I would like to just take the system offline permanently if that is a fairly straight forward operation if anyone have done this before. Thanks!

What happens when you use the Hatch lock to disarm the Alarm?

To be honest Dave, the idea to try and use an other lock to disable the alarm had not occurred to me until I started to type my above post, I will give that a try and report back the findings. I am guessing that the three chirp tones that I hear inside the car when I take the key out of the ignition is the alarm setting itself?

This is how it's disconnected on my 84s. I took off my door panels to replace the check straps and both my alarm wires form the door locks were crushed and shorted to each other.Under the panel.

Pull the black plug from the CE panel and jumper the contacts as shown.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm installed? The stock unit does not do any confirmation chirps...

Thanks Alan, Hopefully if it is an aftermarket one they at least tied it in the same way as the factory as it seems to behave in the same ways as the stock one ( door key kills and activates it, uses the factory alarm horn ) I will follow up here when I get the time to take a peek.

Well, the only door I was able to use that would allow me to start the car was the passenger side. The drivers side door and the trunk would cycle the alarm ( turn it off once it was triggered when I tried to crank the motor) but not disarm it. I uncovered the fuse box and unplugged the Z plug, I will make a jumper today and see if it has taken the alarm out of the loop hopefully. There is a aftermarket stereo in the car that is of the era of crazy disco light displays that I think might be the source of the three beeps when the key is pulled out. Thank you for the help 928 group, I hope to meet some of you @ Hershey this year.

I'd look to removing all aftermarket wiring that you do not understand, else risk getting stranded or worse, melting wires.
I have see Stereo's that beep also when the key is removed/ car turned off.

Be careful making jumpers unless you put a fuse inline in them, so if they produce a short at least you wont melt any wiring.

It's real simple to disable the factory alarm.

You just locate "Plug Z" at the bottom of your central electrical panel in the passenger side foot well, pull plug Z off and insert a jumper between terminals 1 and 6 of where plug Z used to plug in.

The jumper is simply about two inches of wire with a spade connecter crimped onto each end.
